PromptCare: Sickness Doesn’t
Have a Schedule
There’s never a good time to get sick. But if your doctor’s
office is closed or your doctor is too busy to see you,
dealing with an unplanned illness or injury can be frustrating.
It can be hard to know whether to head to the nearest
emergency department or wait until your doctor can see you.
That’s where PromptCare comes in. Our three urgent care facilities offer convenient, walk-in care for most minor illnesses and injuries. And PromptCare has evening, weekend,
and limited holiday hours. No appointment is necessary. “PromptCare is not a replacement for a primary care physician [PCP],” says Faith Neuhauser, RN, BS, manager of PromptCare. “Your PCP should be the first person you call if you get sick or need routine care. But we’re here for those times when your PCP isn’t available. And if you don’t have a PCP, the staff at PromptCare can treat you—and then help you find a PCP.”
OFFERING A WIDE RANGE OF SERVICES
When you choose PromptCare, you can feel confident that you are in good hands. “We have a highly experienced staff,” says Neuhauser. “All our doctors are board certified in emergency medicine or family practice, and many of our nurses have more than 20 years of experience. In addition, all of our nursing staff are certified in advanced cardiac life support and pediatric advanced life support.“We can provide 10 different bedside laboratory tests, including strep tests, pregnancy tests, hemoglobin, and RSV in children,” adds Neuhauser. “We also have an X-ray technologist on staff.”
With such an extensive range of services available, Prompt- Care staff can treat most minor illnesses and injuries, including cold and flu symptoms, sprains or broken bones, minor cuts, ear pain, and mild cases of vomiting and diarrhea.
WHEN IT’S AN EMERGENCY
If you have a true emergency, you should not visit PromptCare. If you have chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe headache, high fever, severe shortness of breath, or abdominal pain, go to the nearest emergency department for treatment.OSF Saint Francis PromptCare
