Risk Factors
(309) 683-5009The Risk Factors for Breast Cancer Include:
- Being female
- Age
- Extremely rare in women under 20
- Very rare in women under 30
- Incidence rises with age and becomes significant by age 50
- Being of Ashkenazi Jewish decent
- Ethnicity and race
- Hormonal factors
- Onset of menstruation (at an early age or late onset)
- Age of menopause onset
Personal History:
- Family history of breast cancer
- Personal history of breast cancer
- Weight
- Physical inactivity
- Alcohol consumption
The Signs of Breast Cancer Include:
- Any new, lump or thickening in any part of the breast
- Change in breast size, shape, texture or color
- Dimpling or puckering or the skin
- Swelling, redness, or warmth that does not go away
- Pain in one spot that does not vary with your monthly cycle
- Indenting of nipple
- Nipple discharge that starts suddenly
- An itchy, sore, or scaling area on one nipple
- You may or may not have pain with these changes
