Mammography
is NOT perfect. Not all breast cancers can be seen
on mammography. However, mammography is the best technology
we have at the current time to detect breast cancer that
is not obvious to sight or touch. It is important to
remember to do a careful monthly self-breast exam in conjunction
with having a yearly mammogram as part of your healthy lifestyle.
Guidelines for Early Detection of Breast Cancer in Asymptomatic
Women:

- Annual mammogram
- Annual clinical breast examination by a trained health care provider
- Monthly breast self-examination
