Becky Ala's Journey

Weight Loss | Becky Ala

Becky is a 35-year-old married mother of three wild boys who has always struggled with her weight. Over the past several years she has seen her weight has spiraled out of control and negatively affected her health and her family. She has decided to have weight loss surgery

Over the years she’s tried numerous approaches to weight loss - diet pills, support groups, exercise, and depression and at times the weight will come off but eventually comes rolling back on. She has been contemplating gastric bypass for several years, but has been reluctant to proceed because as she says, “I REALLY like to eat, which is part of my overall problem.” This summer was a huge turning point for her and she decided that she would rather give up the bad things that are impacting her life than lose a moment of time with her family. “My boys are growing older every second and I want to be alive for them and be an active part of their lives for as long as I can” says Becky

December update on Becky’s progress…

The holiday season can be difficult time for many people attempting to lose weight. Here’s some thoughts from Becky, a patient preparing for weight loss surgery.

“Lazy is the way I’ve been feeling and I’m a bit disappointed in myself as far as exercising goes. I’m not exercising as often as I like and I need to give myself a good kick in the pants to get going. The good news is that my husband is going to attend the weight loss support group meeting with me. I’m really happy that he is willing to support me in this and hopefully he will get a better understanding of the changes to come and maybe meet some people who can help support him with all the changes heading our way.”
