Center for Occupational Health
OSF Saint Francis Center for
Occupational Health (OCOH) is a full-service provider of
occupational and environmental medicine. We serve the needs of
Peoria area employers and employees with complete, objective and
quality work targeted medical services.
OCOH
partners with area employers to assure healthy, safe and productive
workforces. Through pre-employment physicals, pre-employment
functional assessments, post-injury care, drug screening,
consultation and even customized services, OCOH stands ready to
serve work health needs. As part of one of the most integrated
healthcare systems in the nation, OCOH can link to internal,
community and national resources.
Provider Staff
Our department only sees work-related cases, assuring employees are
seen rapidly. OCOH employs four full-time occupational medicine
physicians. These specialists provide highly accurate diagnoses and
care promoting effective medical outcomes, rapid return to work and
lower employer costs. Because employees are seen by occupational
physician specialists, there is high confidence in accurate
diagnosis and care. Because employees are seen by physicians
specializing in work injury, there is high credibility given in
cases that go to workers’ compensation hearings.
Internal Case Management
OCOH understands quality medical care requires speedy and clear
communication. We provide full-time internal case managers to
facilitate communication with employers, employees and other parties
associate with the care and management process. Questions relating
to medical care, return-to-work and patient progress are efficiently
communicated, leading to treatment times and more rapid return to
work.

Department and PromptCare locations are referred to OCOH for
next business day care.

crtical care transportation to and from OSF Saint Francis
Medical Center. |

Physicals
Each employer using OCOH for work-related physicals (e.g.,
pre-employment, medical surveillance, return-to-work) is carefully
interviewed to assure protocols are clearly recorded and services
delivered according to company protocols.
Injury
Care
OCOH specializes in the provision of Occupational Health services
only. This means employees do not wait for care with patients who
are waiting for non-work medical issues. Therefore, our OCOH staff
can see employees for physicals and injury care much more quickly.
Proximity of a medical clinic does not mean timely service. The only
true measure of time efficiency is how quickly an employee is seen
and discharged. Our Priority Care System consists of two teams. One
team is assigned to treat injuries as a walk-in priority; the other
team sees scheduled patients. These teams rotate so that a
physicians who sees a patient on a Priority Care follows that
patient for future care.
Second Opinions and Independent
Medical Evaluation
OCOH physicians will see patients for second opinions and
independent medical evaluations on a limited basis. Evaluations can
be specified to include just a physical examination or to include a
functional capacity assessment. We use special assessment equipment
and protocols to provide objective documented findings.
Ancillary Services
As part of one of the most integrated medical systems in the nation,
OCOH will coordinate internal, community and even national therapy,
assessment, wellness, rehabilitation and specialist care depending
on the needs of those served.
