Lori Wiegand, MSN, NEA-BC
Vice President
Patient Care Division
Chief Nursing Officer

It is a privilege to serve as the Chief Nursing Officer at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center. More than technology, our care is defined through our nurses’ dedication to providing a caring touch at the bedside, teamwork focused on each patient, and a commitment to serve all persons.

We were originally awarded the Magnet designation in 2004 by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program. In March 2009 we were unanimously approved for renewal of this honored designation, putting us in the top 2% of hospitals in the country. This award recognizes that our nurses are among the best in the world as their practice reflects the highest nursing care standards.

Our nurses excel in a professional nursing practice environment. We encourage and support the development of nursing practice through ongoing educational opportunities and research utilizing evidenced-based practice. We underscore that belief with excellent scholarship and loan programs. We are proud of the academic credentials and the professional certifications that our nurses have earned. We collaborate with Saint Francis College of Nursing, which offers several Graduate degree programs. We offer a strong orientation program for newly-employed nurses, and a Nurse Residency Program designed for new graduates as well as mentoring programs.

Our nurses are truly special! They are innovative and nationally recognized as leaders in nursing care. As we move forward together into the future, we are committed to our calling to serve our patients with the greatest care and love.

Are you called to join our nursing team? Learn more about us and decide!

Sincerely,
Lori Wiegand, MSN, NEA-BC
