There are many different types of Volunteer assignments which require different skills and abilities.
Transport Services
Transporting patients needing admission and discharge from the medical center.
- Discharge - Taking inpatients and ambulatory surgery patients to their cars
- Admitting - Taking patients to their assigned rooms after they are admitted
- Errands - Take films, charts or equipment to and from departments
- Flowers and Mail - Distribute flowers and mail to patients
Nursing Areas
Providing help with the personal care of patients while staff provides medical care.
- Help welcome patients, families and visitors
- Visit and talk with patients
- Pass fresh water to patients
- Prepare patients for meals
Hospitality
Serve as host or hostess to an area.
- Help welcome patients, families and visitors
- Serve at the Information Desk
- Reception in departments, clinics and offices
Clerical
Basic
office tasks. File, type, prepare mailing
projects, collate admission charts, answer phones, use
copy and fax machines,
etc.
