Veterans Benefits
The OSF School of Histotechnology is approved by the State Approving Agency for
Veterans Educational Benefits. A veteran (having served over 181 days of continuous
active duty) may be eligible for federal monthly benefits depending upon dependency
status and hours of enrollment. Veterans may also be eligible for payment of
tuition and fees at state-supported colleges and universities only. Veterans
are encouraged to check with their local V.A. office and/or the Illinois
Department
of Veterans' Affairs for further information.
Refunds
Application and registration fees are non-refundable. Tuition refunds will be
made for withdrawals within the first four weeks of school, and only after an
official letter of withdrawal has been filed with the program director. Tuition
will not be refunded to students dismissed from the program for academic or disciplinary
reasons.
Housing
Private dormitory rooms at the OSF Saint Francis College of Nursing may be available
for rental on a monthly basis for all students admitted to the School.
The dorm is located behind the medical center on Greenleaf Street, with a connecting
walkway to the south entrance of the medical center. Further details on housing
are available from the program director. Room, board and personal expenses remain
the responsibility of each student.
Part-time Employment
Students may work while enrolled in the OSF School of Histotechnology, provided
such employment is outside of the regularly scheduled instructional time.
Health Services and Insurance
Students are responsible for their own health care costs while enrolled at OSF. It is strongly recommended that all students obtain health insurance coverage for the duration of the program. Enrolled students have access to emergency medical care at all times during the academic program.
