Admission Policy
Thank you for your interest in applying for the OSF Saint Francis Medical Center Dietetic Internship!
Admission Requirements
- Bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum academic requirements established by ADA
- Limited to U.S. citizens or permanent residents of visa status
- Additional coursework in medical nutrition therapy is required when a degree has been completed five or more years prior to internship application.
To apply:
Please send a completed Dietetic Internship Application packet postmarked by the American Dietetic Association and D & D Digital computer matching deadlines. This application packet needs to include:
- A professional typewritten business letter, which states:
- Your major reasons to apply to the OSF Saint Francis Medical Center Dietetic Internship Program.
- Your personal and professional goals.
- How your college prepared you for the dietetic workplace of the 21st century.
- Your strengths and areas of further development and how you will plan to extend your strengths and work on the areas that need further development.
- Describe any situation in which you have been involved that demonstrates teamwork, creativity and interpersonal interaction.
- Application Forms
- A Declaration of Intent form or Verification Statements form from your program advisor/director.
- Official transcript(s) of all university and colleges you attended.
- Three letters of reference using the standard ADA forms from the following professionals who are able to give pertinent information as to your ability, potential professional qualifications, attitude and personality.
- Academic advisor or DPD Director.
- Professor or instructor in professional dietetics.
- Employer who know the professional dietetic qualification.
- Telephone Interview Preference Sheet
- A $30.00 nonrefundable application process fee, in the form of a money order check, payable to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.

D&D Digital Systems computer matching
- All applicants must participate in the D&D Digital Systems computer matching process
- OSF Saint Francis Medical Center Dietetic Internship code for matching is #326
Selection Process:
After the American Dietetic Association and D & D Digital computer matching deadlines, the OSF Saint Francis Medical Center selection committee members will review your application packet. The selection committee will use a screening evaluation tool to score your application.
In order to assure our program matches your needs. We may ask for a phone interview during the third week of March. If we interview you, we will notify you by e-mail what time we will call. We will attempt to interview you during the times you indicated on your Telephone Interview Preference sheet.
D & D Digital Systems will notify applicant of matching results on the D & D Digital Systems website.
After acceptance:
After acceptance into the program, the applicant must send the following:
- Applicants are responsible to call the program director within 24 hours of notification to accept. Please call during business hours (8:00AM to 4:00PM Central Standard Time).
- A letter accepting the appointment postmarked within 48 hours of the appointment date and $40 registration fee payable to the OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.
- Official college transcript that shows receipt of baccalaureate or advanced degree.
- A completed verification statement indicating compliance with current academic requirements by the American Dietetic Association.
